When Scott Mellis wrote me and requested,  “Please stalk me, Rocker Stalker,” I was both honored and a little creeped out (Just kidding! Completely honored!).

The Australian-born, now LA-grounded singer/songwriter/guitarist is notoriously skilled at producing sincere, heartfelt,  heartwarming, and in a nutshell, beautifully crafted and memorable songs.  This time around, Mellis tugs at heartstrings with an ode to a girl and a city, “Girl From Echo Park,” which I not only appreciate because I’m a native Angeleno(a), but because it showcases Mellis’s  unmatched, ethereal vocals and poignant poeticism. The sweet  and bubbly serenade is a follow up to Mellis’s EP, Dancing for the Murder of Desire and also finds itself in a different form on this month’s accompanying release,  Live and Acoustic. Stay up to date on Scott’s whereabouts on Facebook, as you wouldn’t want to miss this one-of-a-kind voice in a city near you.

“Girl from Echo Park” officially drops on iTunes today, so be sure to stop by and download it! You can also stream the track below.

Rocker Stalker is back at Arlene’s Grocery TONIGHT! Two of my favorite rock acts in NYC, Social Hero and Black Wing Halo, will be quaking the stage back to back! Doors are at 6, with an extensive line up. 21+, $10.  Bring earplugs for the good kind of loud.bwh_SH

Tonight, I’m happy to welcome to the Arlene’s Grocery stage, four very different but rockin’ bands.  Eastern Anchors, Midnight Spin, Generator Ohm, and Moonstriker highlight a bounty of rock genres from the northeast. Doors are at 7PM, bands start promptly at 7:30, 21+, $8. Midnight Spin and Generator Ohm will be performing special, extended, one hour sets!

This is the first in several Rocker Stalker shows at Arlene’s, so come out and celebrate the inauguration of Rocker Stalker Nights!
