Wednesday night I was feeling regret. I wish I had been able to attend the three previous June residency shows for NYC’s Jump Into the Gospel. Just before JITG hit the stage, Fort Lean graced Pianos with an interesting breed of rock and an eye-catching shock of blonde, curly hair. The venue was packed to the brims when JITG blew through a danceable set of material from their current EP and new single, “2012,” all available for free, and unreleased tunes that made me anxious for ANOTHER release. Evening closers, The Hussle Club heated the audience with pounding electro-rock racks that transformed Pianos into a sweltering dance club.
